Senior Laboratory Operations Manager

Job Purpose:

To oversee the efficient and effective operation of a laboratory, ensuring compliance with international standards and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement laboratory policies, processes, and procedures to ensure efficiency, safety, and quality in all operations
• Manage daily laboratory activities to ensure accurate and efficient test performance, adhering to established methods, instructions, and quality standards
• Provide inputs on laboratory capabilities to support regional business development strategies
• Review and monitor laboratory financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed
• Continuously seek opportunities to enhance laboratory capabilities and capacity, driving continual improvement and presenting relevant strategies to management
• Stay up-to-date with industry best practices in robotic laboratory automation and process industrialization, applying knowledge to drive efficiencies in laboratory practices
• Participate in the development of quotations, bids, and technical evaluations to support tendering and procurement processes
• Collaborate with the Finance department to resolve outstanding payment issues and ensure timely resolution
• Oversee laboratory stock requirements, ensuring suitable equipment, consumables, and stock levels are maintained
• Develop and implement plans to increase income or reduce costs, supporting business objectives
• Lead the laboratory team, providing technical support and ensuring compliance with quality standards
• Plan and execute preventive and scheduled maintenance, ensuring operational requirements are met
• Provide guidance and assistance to the laboratory team on work methods, equipment usage, and techniques, including method development and validation
• Identify and assess key HSE risks, actively participating in dialogue with the workforce and HSE team, and taking action on non-conformance to safety and quality issues

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Food Technology, Agricultural Sciences, Molecular Biology, Environmental Sciences, Petroleum Sciences/Engineering, or a relevant discipline
• Degree requirements may vary depending on the laboratory scope
• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience
• Master's degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 10 years' experience considered for this role
• Fluent English spoken and written
