RA-d2m-259 HSE Marine Operations Superintendent

We are currently seeking a HSE Marine Operations Superintendent to oversee maritime safety and operational compliance on board vessels on behalf of our partner operating in Africa to strengthen their team.

You will serve as a key liaison between maritime contractors and the HSE/Logistics departments, ensuring that all maritime operations meet the highest standards of safety, environmental protection and operational excellence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct HSE and maritime inspections every two weeks on board all vessels.
• Conduct monthly maritime and HSE inspections and follow up on action plans with contractors.
• Randomly check the validity of crew certifications and medical certificates.
• Inspect berthing areas and perform berthing tests upon arrival of new vessels.
• Attend emergency towing tests for all vessels arriving at the facilities for the first time.
• Conduct regular inspections of marine pipes (MGO and fresh water): verification of certifications, pressure tests and compliance with procedures during refuelling.
• Conduct immediate inspections on board after any breakdown affecting operations; collect evidence and liaise with the crew and contractors to find a solution.
• Ensure consistent dissemination of HSE initiatives, REX (return on experience) and procedures on board all vessels.
• Attend at least 4 safety drills per month across the entire fleet.
• Promote and enforce STOP WORK authority among all maritime personnel.
• Support incident investigations in the event of an HSE or maritime incident.

Requirements

• Marine Engineer background, with minimum Chief Mate Unlimited (STCW '95) license
• Solid offshore experience in a similar HSE or marine superintendent role
• Deep knowledge of marine operations, safety standards, and international regulations
• Strong inspection and reporting skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage with multicultural crews
• Fluent in English (written and spoken); French is an asset
• Fully proficient in Microsoft Office tools
