We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Planner specializing in Primavera P6 for our demanding oil and gas projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring detailed project schedules, ensuring that all project phases, from engineering and procurement to construction and commissioning, are executed efficiently and on time. This role requires a strong understanding of oil and gas project lifecycles and a proven track record of using Primavera P6 to manage large, complex schedules.
Key Responsibilities- Schedule Development & Management:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive, resource-loaded project schedules using Primavera P6 (P6) for all phases of oil and gas projects (e.g., FEED, Detailed Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Pre-Commissioning, Commissioning).
- Ensure schedules are fully integrated and logically linked, adhering to project work breakdown structure (WBS).
- Establish project baselines and manage the change control process for all schedule revisions.
- Progress Monitoring & Reporting:
- Monitor project progress against the baseline schedule, identify critical path activities, and track key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Perform regular schedule updates and analyze variances to the baseline.
- Prepare and present detailed weekly and monthly schedule reports, including progress curves (S-Curves), look-ahead schedules, and critical path analysis, for internal and external stakeholders.
- Analysis & Forecasting:
- Conduct what-if scenario analysis and risk simulations within P6 to assess the impact of potential delays or changes.
- Work with the project team to develop recovery plans for delayed activities.
- Provide accurate project completion forecasts (Estimate At Completion - EAC) based on performance data.
- Team Collaboration & Coordination:
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement, and Construction teams to gather input and ensure the schedule accurately reflects project scope and execution strategy.
- Facilitate planning and progress meetings.
- Ensure compliance with project planning standards, specifications, and client requirements.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive experience in project planning and scheduling, with a significant portion dedicated to large-scale oil and gas, petrochemical, or energy projects.
- Technical Expertise:
- Expert-level proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6 Professional (P6) is mandatory.
- Demonstrated experience with WBS development, critical path method (CPM) scheduling, resource loading, and earned value management (EVM).
- Familiarity with standard project controls software and reporting tools.
- Industry Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of the oil and gas project lifecycle (onshore/offshore) and the typical activities and constraints within each phase.
- Knowledge of standard engineering, procurement, and construction contracts and reporting standards.
- Skills:
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PSP) is a plus.
- Experience with risk analysis software (e.g., Safran Risk, Primavera Risk Analysis).
- Prior experience working directly for an Owner/Operator or an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor in the oil and gas sector.
