Engineering Manager – Port & Container Terminal (Luanda, Angola)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead all technical and maintenance activities on a busy container terminal in Luanda, Angola.

As the Engineering Manager, you will develop and implement strategic equipment engineering and maintenance plans and optimise technical processes to drive project profitability and achieve project plans.

What You'll Be Doing

You will take full ownership of the Engineering & Maintenance function, delivering operational excellence and long-term equipment strategy, including:

  • Leading the design and execution of maintenance programs to maximise equipment uptime and reliability
  • Managing centralised spare parts planning, technical procurement, and vendor engagement
  • Conducting inspections and managing contractor performance to international standards
  • Building a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making through CMMS systems and performance analytics
  • Guiding your team's professional development while building a resilient succession pipeline
  • Driving greenfield and brownfield engineering strategy with scalable systems to support global replication
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on capital investment, efficiency, and technical capability
 
Who You Are

You bring a rare combination of deep technical expertise, a global mindset, and inclusive leadership. Your background includes:

  • 15+ years of engineering experience, with extensive time in ports and container terminal sectors
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master's is a plus)
  • Proven track record in change management, equipment procurement, and international project delivery
  • Full working proficiency in English and Portuguese
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
  • Experience in multicultural environments with a strong commitment to team development and gender-balanced leadership
  • Familiarity with international compliance, safety, and port regulations
