Peace and Conflict Resolution Specialist

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Peace and Conflict Resolution Specialist to join our team at the FDFA - Peace and Human Rights Division (PHRD) in Angola. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in promoting peace and stability in the region, working closely with national stakeholders, regional organizations, and international partners.

About the Role:
The Peace and Conflict Resolution Specialist will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on peacebuilding and conflict prevention initiatives. This will involve analyzing complex political and socio-economic developments, identifying opportunities for dialogue and cooperation, and developing strategic partnerships with key stakeholders. The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of programs and projects aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region, working closely with UN agencies, NGOs, and other partners.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide risk-informed analysis on political and socio-economic developments, identifying opportunities for inclusive dialogue and sustaining peace;
Establish and maintain networks and partnerships with key national stakeholders, regional organizations, and international partners;
Contribute to the design and implementation of programs and projects aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region;
Support the strengthening of national capacities through training and capacity building;
Liaise closely with UN agencies, NGOs, and other partners to ensure effective coordination and collaboration;
Provide strategic advice and guidance on peacebuilding and conflict prevention initiatives;
Identify lessons learned and best practices in peacebuilding and conflict prevention;

Requirements:
Master's degree or higher in a relevant field;
10 years of relevant experience in peacebuilding and conflict prevention;
Proven track record of engagement with government, regional organizations, and international partners;
Excellent knowledge of and extensive work experience in the Sub-Saharan Africa subregion or in a similar context;
Fluent written and spoken English; working knowledge of Portuguese;
Physical and mental fitness to work in this context;
Possession of a valid automobile driving license;
Swiss nationality;

Working Conditions:
The assignment will be based in Luanda, Angola, with regular travel to other parts of the country and region;
The specialist will work closely with national stakeholders, regional organizations, and international partners;
The specialist will contribute to the development of programs and projects aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region;
The specialist will work in a dynamic and challenging environment, requiring strong analytical and communication skills;

Estimated Salary: $120,000 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
