We are seeking a highly skilled Global Peace and Development Expert to join our team at the FDFA - Peace and Human Rights Division (PHRD) in Angola. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented professional to contribute to shaping the future of peace and development in this vibrant region.
About the Role
- As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice on peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and sustainable development to support the Government of Angola's efforts in consolidating peace.
- You will work closely with our team to analyze complex political and socio-economic developments, identifying opportunities to strengthen national capacities and build inclusive peace and development initiatives.
- In collaboration with local stakeholders, regional actors, and international partners, you will establish strategic partnerships to drive lasting change and advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
- Through your expertise and guidance, you will support the design and implementation of effective programs that address the root causes of conflict and promote social cohesion, reconciliation, and stabilization.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive political, peace, and development analysis to inform decision-making and strategy development.
- Provide strategic advice to senior officials, governments, and other stakeholders on peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and sustainable development.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with national, regional, and international partners to leverage resources, expertise, and influence.
- Contribute to the development of programmatic frameworks, policies, and guidelines that promote peace, justice, and strong institutions.
- Foster dialogue and engagement among diverse stakeholders to identify entry points for mainstreaming conflict prevention and sensitivity in UN programming.
Requirements
- Masters degree or higher in a relevant field, such as international relations, politics, economics, sociology, or a related discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in peacebuilding, conflict prevention, sustainable development, or a related field, with a proven track record of working in Sub-Saharan Africa or similar contexts.
- Demonstrated expertise in program management, policy analysis, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent knowledge of English and proficiency in one or more Swiss official languages (German, French, Italian).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to a competitive salary, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid leave.
